A letter from our publisher

For 105 years, the Camden News has been Ouachita County’s most trusted source for the stories that matter. A strong, independent local newspaper doesn’t just inform a community – it connects it.

Like many newspapers across the country, the Camden News has faced the financial pressures of a rapidly changing media landscape. Even while operating at a loss, our family has continued to invest in the paper because we know what’s at stake. Without local journalism, crime rises, government accountability declines and citizens lose access to the information they need to make informed decisions.

That’s why we are launching the Camden News Community Journalism Project — a dedicated effort to expand local reporting and ensure no important story goes untold.

Your support will directly fund the essential coverage that keeps our community informed, engaged and connected. It will help us shine a light on critical issues, celebrate local voices and preserve the stories and traditions that make Ouachita County unique.

Our family has been committed to the Camden News for generations because we believe a strong community depends on strong local journalism. But its future ultimately depends on the community it serves. Together, we can ensure the Camden News remains a trusted voice for many years to come.
